Angela Caldwell, DVM, MS

I am from Alpine, Utah. This rural mountain community allowed me to enjoy the outdoors with our many pet family members. I always knew I had a love of all animals thus my choice in a college major was directed to the study of animal life. I attended Brigham Young University for both my Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and Master’s degree in Teratology. I was then privileged to continue my education at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and receive a doctorate. While there I focused on small animal study.

I am a member of Arizona Veterinary Medical Association the American Veterinary Medical Associations. My husband and I have lived in Arizona for over 16 years.

We have three children, two cats, two horses and a dog which sometimes makes our home feel like a full-time zoo. Together, with my husband Richard, we own and operate Arizona Healthy Pet Hospitals, which includes Val Vista Animal Hospital. Arizona Healthy Pet Hospitals provide pet family-members in the East Valley the very best health care. We maintain the highest standards and are proud of the excellent animal / pet doctors and staff members that care for each and every pet as if it were their own.

Sarah Little, DVM

She moved to Arizona to attend graduate school in microbiology at ASU. As a result of this move, she discovered she loved Arizona. She also realized she wanted to become a veterinarian. Dr. Little then left the warmth of Arizona to pursue her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. After graduation she was again drawn back to Arizona and now calls Gilbert home. She has been a part of the Val Vista Animal Hospital family since 2003.

Dr. Little and her husband are blessed to have 2 young daughters. Her pet family consists of 2 dogs, a pug and an athletic chocolate lab. Dr. Little enjoys sports and really loves running. She also enjoys shopping, hiking, jewelry making, and traveling.

Dr. Little is a member of the Arizona and American Veterinary Medicine Associations. She has interests in soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and behavior. When describing why she enjoys being a veterinarian, she said, “Every day is different. I never know what to expect. Animals amaze me. I am constantly learning, and I get to help people and their pets.

Mercedes Core, DVM

Dr. Mercedes Core was born in Ohio, and moved to Arizona when she was 6 years old. She grew up in Mesa, Arizona and attended Arizona State University to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in zoology. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Dr. Core began working in animal hospitals, first as a receptionist and eventually as a certified veterinary technician. When Dr. Core’s childhood cat became very ill, she decided that she was going to continue in the veterinary field after ASU and become a veterinarian.

She attended Ross University of Veterinary Medicine in St Kitts, and after doing a clinical year at Oklahoma State University, she became a doctor of veterinary medicine in 2007. Dr. Core returned to Arizona after graduation and practiced for 5 years prior to moving to Michigan with her husband. After 4 years in the Midwest, she and her husband decided to return to their family, friends and the Arizona sun. She has been happily married since 2013 with one young daughter, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
